Celebrate Mulla Nasrudin's Birthday in Toronto November 13!
Mulla Nasrudin, the centuries-old star of countless jokes in throughout Central Asia and the Middle East, will be the guest of honor at a zany cross-cultural extravaganza in Toronto to benefit needy children in Afghanistan. Nobody really knows who he was or if he even existed--but that's not stopping us from celebrating his birthday!
Proceeds from this event will provide illustrated Pashto-Dari versions of Afghan folk tales to Afghan children in need. The event is sponsored by The Institute for Cross-cultural Exchange (ICE), an all-volunteer Canadian charity that addresses family literacy and promotes understanding among cultures.
The evening's entertainment, which includes a full lineup of storytelling, music, dance and dramatic foolery, will take place Saturday, November 13 from 7:30-10:00p.m. at Emmanuel Howard Park United Church, 214 Wright Avenue in Toronto. Tickets are $25, family $45.
