||New York City based Afghan Communicator (AC - website) presents the Afghan Art and Film Festival – Los Angeles engagement.
For two days only at the California State University, Northridge - University Student Union on June 25 & 26, Afghan art and crafts will be on display along with simultaneous showings of over 15 films from Afghanistan. Through this project, Afghan Communicator hopes to promote Afghan art and culture, as well as educate people about Afghanistan and the Afghan community.
The festival is co-sponsored in Los Angeles by Afghan American Youth Council (AAYC – aayc.org) and the Afghan Future Generation (Afghan Student Association of UCI). All proceeds raised from the Afghan Art & Film Festival will benefit artists in Afghanistan.
Including in the festival are classic and new Afghan films, artwork and handcrafts from different parts of Afghanistan. This is a realistic effort to help the Afghanistan reconstruction process and its people through a dignified, expressive, and meaningful project at the grassroots level.
Opening reception is on Saturday at 6pm, however, films and arts will be on display starting from 12 Noon. Sunday films and art will be between 12 pm – 5 pm. Film admission is $5/block of films.
